Being surrounded by nature is undoubtedly good for the soul. There is something quite uplifting and invigorating about open space and fresh air. Not only is nature beautiful and pleasing to the eye, but it can also inspire creativity and generate fresh thoughts. Who wants to be stuck in a boring meeting room staring at four walls when you can choose to be somewhere with stunning views and the ability to get outdoors? All of this is a powerful combination that will enhance any corporate retreat, team building exercise or sales meeting.
Choosing a meeting venue in a countryside location isn’t just about the peaceful and calm environment though, it can spark communication. Put a different perspective on life. Enable people to see things with a fresh pair of eyes. Away from the office environment and the structured atmosphere of a town or city, the literal ability to see further can facilitate the metaphoric ability to see more. Windows providing views onto verdant vistas stretching into the distance lead the eye and open the mind to new ideas.
Simply being able to go for a walk during the lunch break is a way to relieve stress. Arranging something fun like a treasure hunt can add some ‘head space’ to intense business days full of presentations and discussions. Of course, you can take full advantage of the location too by combining meeting time with some team building time too.
Here are some of our favourite places for ‘outdoor thinking’ venues;
With access to over 400 acres of land, the meeting spaces at The Kingscote Barn near Tetbury offer complete privacy for a range of business meetings and events. You can, of course,e decide just to admire the wonderful views of the Cotswold countryside from inside, but that would be a shame when the events team here can help design the perfect mix of time indoors to talk business and time outdoors to make the most of this glorious setting.
Close to the renowned culinary hotspot of Kingham in Oxfordshire, Cornwell Manor is available for exclusive hire and provides the ultimate in impressive backdrops for a Board meeting, product launch or client event. Not only is the house absolutely stunning, but there is also an outdoor heated swimming pool and tennis courts too. All of this surrounded by a privately-owned hamlet and a 2 000-acre estate.
The space – indoor and outdoor – at Hillside Brewery make it a fantastic venue for larger corporate events. The cavernous purpose-built barn can hold up to 250 for a meeting or conference. Outdoors there is a large terrace and a grass-area with wonderful views of the Forest of Dean. This area is well-utilised by their team building partners who are able to organise a range of fun and challenging activities.
